Municipal Drinking Water Systems

Protecting sources of drinking water in the Quinte Source Protection Area improves the quality of life for local families and supports sustainable communities now and into the future. Currently, there are 11 municipal drinking water systems in the Quinte Source Protection Area across seven municipalities.

The Ontario Clean Water Act was created specifically to protect drinking water at the source rather than simply relying on water treatment alone to deliver safe and clean water. This Act, has improved water protection greatly through policies and mapping in the Quinte Source Protection Plan.
